The Tara Center

Tara is available for your group retreat. Tara offers facility rental for gatherings, meditation retreats, yoga retreats, concerts, workshops, or conferences on the Big Island. Maximum accommodation is 25 people, more if lanai accommodation is a pleasing option for any in your group.
Your guests will be inspired and amazed by the facilties here at Tara--they will be delighted at every turn.

As a facilitator you know the importance of a clean, well-organized space. You also know the importance of light, high energy, natural settings. We created Tara to fufill exactly these needs. Tara is very clean, peaceful, and well-maintained. Our four main structures include a very large dining area as well as a sitting/library area, and massage/healing room. These spaces are always kept clean and uncluttered. The design is tropical/asian, created to soothe the soul, awaken the senses, and blend harmoniously with nature.

Adjacent to the beautiful main building are the two bedroom pavillions. We have a total of seven bedrooms, two separated bungalows, and a cedar and redwood retreat house. All are natural, luxurious accomodations. These are not tropical-style screened-in buildings! Our bathrooms are spacious and each has a unique beautiful design. All bathrooms have tubs and the two master bathrooms have large sunken tubs.

Our large meditation/yoga room has very high ceiling, wood floors, shoji doors, plenty of wall space for yoga, stereo system, yoga mats, meditation cushons, and many blankets. It is a very healing, nurturing, quiet space. more photos...

In addition your guests can enjoy long walks with beautiful views of the ocean in the distance. They are likely to never see another person and can truly enjoy the healing power of nature. We also two hiking trails that lead to a powerful, healing 400' waterfall that are completely private. There your guests can enjoy river pool swimming and sunbathing.

Tara also has separate bungalows, camping, and a cave for ceremony or meditation.

Travel: Transportation is available to and from the airport, for a small fee. Excursions, sacred site journeys, and dolphin experiences are options for your group retreat as well.

Meals: Facilitators and guests rave about Tara's cuisine- in fact all have commented that meals alone are a healing experience here. All gourmet meals are organic, served by plate with emphasize on all that is important- nutrition, presentation, cooked to perfection, with pleasing atmosphere of soft lighting and candlelight for dinner.Menu options are available and we invite fascinators to make suggestions or special requests. Cuisine from around the world is offered, especially delicious Hawaiian meals.

Tara's staff is well experienced and knowledgeable. We are happy to assist you as little or as much as you would like. We are available for fresh linens, and other needs that your guests may have. We are also happy to make suggestions for local site seeing or sacred site journeys.

During your retreat the space is entirely yours, offering quietude and safety for your group. However, we will also ensure that one of us is on site, either in the kitchen or in the office for any needs you may have.

If you have children attending your retreat Tara offers expert childcare complete with activities for the cost of $8 an hour per child.
